USA Today and International bestselling author J.C. Valentine is back with the latest in her electrifying, dangerous, and provocative world of the Spartan Riders MC…
After escaping an abusive marriage, Spartan Riders bartender Ginger “Red” Mercury is determined to live life on her own terms. When the club’s VP declares her untouchable and stakes his own claim on her, she finds herself ready to wage war.
A year after inoculating the threat from notorious cartel leader Ricky Cruiz, Garrick “Repo” Stone, the last-standing original member of the Spartan Riders MC, has his focus on something else: monogamy. Having decided to settle down and take an ol’ lady, he has his sights set on Red…and he has his work cut out for him if he hopes to win her.
When a new threat makes itself known, threatening everything the brothers stand for and care about, they’re left scrambling to find out who’s behind it before it’s too late. With the high-stakes game of war looming over them, will Red be able to open her heart to love before outside forces pull her and Repo apart?
He turned to face her in the mirror, his large frame folding around her as he leaned down to frame her with his thick, muscular arms. His eyes on hers, he turned his lips to her ear, his warm breath a sweet caress that raised goose bumps on her arms. “I’m going to wear you down, Red. You think you can resist me, but you’re wrong.”
“It’ll be a cold day in hell before I accept your patch, Garrick. And I told you to call me Ginger.”
Turning his face into her neck, he breathed her in, his eyes drifting closed as if she were the sweetest thing he’d ever smelled. Ginger had to fight not to close her eyes, too, not to get lost in the warmth of his body pressed up tight against hers. “I’ve got time. For you, Ginger, I’ve got time,” he murmured. Then, he pressed a soft kiss to the side of her throat, over her thundering pulse.
I really enjoyed this story. “Vigor” is the third book in the Spartan Riders series by J.C Valentine. It’s about Repo, the VP of the Spartans and Ginger, a woman who work as bartender for the MC. I loved Repo/Garrick, his character is intense, dominant, tough but with his Red is also very hot and on a mission to gain her trust and put on Ginger his patch as Repo’s old lady. It’s a real challenge for him and it was so much fun to read.
Repo is the VP of the Spartan Riders MC, no men would want to go againts him so when he thinks the time is come to stake his clame on Ginger, everyone give him their green light.
Repo and Ginger known each other for years in the MC. When they first met they felt an instant attraction, but the moment wasn’t the right one for them, and they couldn’t have something different and more important of a one-night stand. Their lives took separate binaries, but close, because of the Spartans.
Ginger, for years, lived with her husband who made her life a hell and once finally regained her freedom, she has always been careful to keeping it and maintain her independence. Her presence in the MC has become a point of reference for everyone: she is a stubborn woman, sassy, and a fighter but she cares a lot for the Spartans, becoming their confidant, friend and lover, yes, because she never refused the company in her bed of these sexy and dominant men, but always and only for relationships without strings attached. Repo has always been there, keeping an eye on her moves until he decides to step forward and stake his claim on her.
I really liked how he acted with her, he seemed as a big feline predator studying his prey, planning the attack. And with her it’s a real challenge, because of Ginger’s stubbornness and fears, which lead her to keep him away, despite her feelings for him. Repo instead of using a strong hand with her, is smart enough to keep his calm, give her time, waiting, though in the meantime he uses his charm as silver fox to make her fall in trap. Well, I must say he knew he had all the time in the world, because he already put things “straight” with brothers. However, I loved Repo even more for his ability to understand what’s in Ginger’s head, showing her his softer side, without hiding himself, to break her walls.
I also liked the fact that the protagonists are two “adult” people, about my age , with their pasts and with their buggages on shoulders.
I liked to read the book written through the POVs of both, their back and forth are brilliant and fun to read and occasionally their clashes leave the place to moments very hot, thanks to the chemistry between them that is explosive among.
The plot was good, and some Spartans’ enemies, along with the lifestyle outside the rules of the MC, made things even more exciting, giving also space to other couples and characters who make their presence felt in story.
I didn’t read the previous books of the series, but noe I’m going to do it. I think Ginger and Repo’s story can be read as a stand alone book, but for the Spartan Riders with their enemies more things are coming and I can’t wait to read the next book.
