It isn’t always possible to translate in my language (I’m Italian) the beauty of the meaning I find into some words. “Worship Me”, the title of this book by Chelle Bliss is just one of these instances: two words that can make it real clear how special is the bond between the protagonists of this story, James and Izzy. This is the seventh book in the “Men of Inked” series, but the Gallo family still has so much to say and so many emotions to give to those who love them. Resist Me, the third book of this series, is about the beginning of the story between Izzy and James, an attraction that Izzy, the only female sibling born in the Gallo family, had tried to counteract in all the ways . She is a talented artist, a tattoo artist, always accustomed to stand up against the strong dominant personalities of her brothers and she has learned and takes their head in the workplace. Her temper and her constant need to prove to be strong and independent have always created some problems with her men until James Caldo came in her life, a man with even more testosterone than hr brothers and, together, they started fireworks. In this new novel, the spotlights come back to this wonderful couple a few years later and it’s something I loved so much. It was wonderful to see them together, taking the rhythms of a normal daily life, work and children to manage, discovering that they are still the same, with the same fire between them, ready to flare at any time. It was also a lot of fun to imagine them confronting with situations like having to pick the moment to give free rein to their passion or camouflage their kinky dates from their kids – with bags full of any kind of sex toys hidden in them – funny, yes, but also very reassuring to see the bond that joins them unchanged over time. James is a member of the ALFA Private Investigation, but he is also a Dom in and out of the bedroom. The new case he is working on brings him back to the origins of his first experiences in the world of BDSM, the very first sex club that allowed him to become the man he is now: possessive, dominant but absolutely in love with Izzy and with eyes only for her. James found in Izzy not only the classic sub he was accustomed to play with, but a woman for whom he had to fight to gain her trust, and for him Izzy is a constant challenge. I really liked reading the story through the point of view of both of them, also because they’re one of my favorite couples in this series. I love Izzy for her inner strength, the confidence she has in herself, making her absolutely sure of being “the One” for James. He embodies everything I love in the male protagonist of a book: he’s hot, gorgeous, a real alpha man, but the thing that strikes me the most in James is his ability to make Izzy happy, to give her security and to be her rock, to lean on in time of need. James and Izzy’s families are also very important in this book, their presence is strong and so good. It’s unthinkable for me to read a book of this series without having to face anything that can happen in their family gatherings. I love the feeling of warmth you can sense around, while you’re reading the pages with them, a feeling that becomes affection and involvement and ends up loving so much these characters. Together they are unique, and in some moments, I found myself with tears in my eyes for laughing so hard, in front of their little funny shows. This series of Chelle Bliss is really amazing and I think I could go on reading the Gallos forever, from generation to generation.

La serie “Men of Inked” è arrivata al suo settimo libro, ma la famiglia Gallo ha ancora così tanto da dire e tante emozioni da regalare a chi li ama. “Resist Me”, il terzo libro della serie, è il libro che ha raccontato l’inizio della storia nata tra Izzy e James, un’attrazione che Izzy, unica figlia femmina nata nella famiglia Gallo, aveva tentato di contrastare in tutti i modi. Lei è un’artista talentuosa, una tatuatrice, abituata da sempre a lottare contro le personalità decisamente dominanti dei suoi fratelli e ha imparato e tener loro testa anche sul posto di lavoro. Il suo temperamento e il suo continuo bisogno di dimostrare di essere forte e indipendente le hanno creato sempre un po’ di problemi con il genere maschile, fino all’arrivo, nella sua vita, di James Caldo, un uomo con ancora più testosterone dei suoi fratelli e, insieme, hanno fatto scintille. In questo nuovo racconto, i riflettori ritornano su questa splendida coppia ad anni di distanza ed è una cosa che ho adorato. È stato meraviglioso vederli insieme, alle prese con i ritmi della normale vita quotidiana, tra lavoro e figli da gestire, scoprendo che le cose tra loro sono sempre uguali, con lo stesso fuoco pronto a divampare in ogni momento. È stato anche molto divertente immaginarli alle prese con situazioni come dover cogliere l’attimo per dare sfogo alla passione o camuffare le loro uscite kinky di fronte ai figli – con tanto di borsoni in cui sono nascosti miriadi di sex toy; divertente, sì, ma anche molto rassicurante veder rimanere immutato nel tempo il legame che li unisce. James è socio in un’agenzia di investigatori privati, la ALFA PI, ma è anche un Dom dentro e fuori la camera da letto. Il nuovo caso, su cui si trova a lavorare, lo riporta alle origini delle sue prime esperienze nel mondo del BDSM, nel primo sex club che gli ha permesso di diventare l’uomo che è adesso: possessivo, dominante, ma assolutamente innamorato di Izzy e con occhi solo per lei. James ha trovato in Izzy non solo la classica Sub a cui era abituato, ma una donna per cui ha dovuto lottare, pur di guadagnarsi la sua cieca fiducia, e per lui Izzy è una sfida continua. Mi è piaciuto tantissimo poter leggere la storia attraverso il punto di vista di entrambi, anche perché sono una delle mie coppie preferite in questa serie. Amo Izzy per la sua forza interiore, la confidenza che ha in se stessa, che la rende consapevole di essere “l’unica” per James. Lui incarna tutto quello che amo nel protagonista maschile di un libro: è sexy, bellissimo, un vero uomo alfa, ma la cosa che mi colpisce di più è la sua capacità di rendere Izzy felice, di trasmetterle sicurezza ed essere quella spalla su cui appoggiarsi nel momento del bisogno. Un altro ruolo fondamentale in questo racconto se lo sono conquistato le famiglie di Izzy e di James. È impensabile per me leggere un libro di questa serie senza trovarmi poi di fronte a tutto quello che può succedere nelle loro riunioni familiari. Amo la sensazione di calore da cui ti senti avvolgere leggendo le pagine in cui sono presenti, sensazione che diventa affetto e coinvolgimento e che finisce per legarti a questi personaggi. Insieme sono unici e, in alcuni momenti, mi sono ritrovata con le lacrime agli occhi dal ridere, di fronte ai siparietti a cui hanno dato vita. Questa serie di Chelle Bliss è straordinaria e penso proprio che potrei andare avanti a leggere dei Gallo in eterno, di generazione in generazione.

È felice del suo status quo, ma i suoi piani subiscono una brusca frenata quando lui entra nella sua vita e la mette sottosopra.

City ha rinunciato all’amore quando il suo cuore è stato spezzato durante il college e ora preferisce essere il tipico scapolo. Passa le notti saltando da un letto all’altro e le giornate lavorando nel negozio di tatuaggi di famiglia, l’Inked.

Un incontro casuale in una strada buia gli fa mettere in discussione tutto ciò a cui aveva giurato di rinunciare per sempre: una relazione

City è il cavaliere dall’armatura scintillante per la damigella in pericolo?

La loro relazione può sopravvivere anche quando una fantasia va a rotoli e viene alla luce un segreto che cambia tutto?

Mi sono imbattuta in questo libro per caso, cercando cose nuove da leggere, come se non ne avessi già abbastanza. Quello che mi ha colpito, a essere proprio sincera, è stata la copertina con un figo spaziale pieno di tatuaggi e la moto. Ovviamente poi sono andata a leggere la trama e mi ha incuriosito.

La protagonista è Suzette McCarthy, ma preferisce essere chiamata Suzy. È la classica ragazza della porta accanto, è un’insegnante e nella sua vita è tutto pianificato, soprattutto a causa delle pressioni della madre che le ha inculcato le sue idee.

Suzy però ha delle fantasie delle quali si vergogna e che gli uomini con cui si ostina a uscire, cercando la stabilità, non possono esaudire.

“La gente pensa che io sia una brava ragazza, e lo sono, ma la mia mente è piena di pensieri sconci che non potrei mai condividere con un compagno.”

Lui è Joseph Gallo, per gli amici City, in apparenza è il bad boy per eccellenza, fa il tatuatore all’Inked, l’azienda di famiglia ed è un motociclista. È un vero maschio alpha, dominante, ed è diventato il classico tipo da una notte e via, dopo un evento drammatico che l’ha segnato per sempre.

Ma City è proprio quello che ci vuole per risvegliare il lato “perverso” di Suzy.

“Sì, sei adorabile. Innocente, ma stai morendo dalla voglia di essere cattiva.”

Il loro incontro avviene in modo casuale, quando City una sera, passando in moto, nota Suzy con l’auto in panne e si ferma ad aiutarla. L’attrazione è immediata ed esplosiva e trascorrono la notte insieme. Per Suzy quella doveva essere l’avventura di una notte, inizialmente, ma City ha risvegliato i suoi sensi mettendo in discussione tutto ciò in cui lei credeva. Ma anche se City è tutto ciò che lei vorrebbe, Suzy ha paura, perché lui è proprio l’opposto di quello che stava cercando, o così pensava.

“Ridi finché puoi, dolcezza,” mormorai contro le sue labbra. “Sto per farti urlare tutte quelle parole oscene che hai troppa paura di dire.”

Ma spesso l’apparenza inganna… City fa tutto il possibile per entrare nella vita di Suzy e nel suo cuore, perché forse in lei ha trovato la donna che potrebbe fargli superare il passato. Riesce anche a portarla sulla “cattiva strada”, facendole provare cose che lei non aveva mai provato e realizzando le sue fantasie più oscure. E una di queste porterà a un evento spiacevole…

Siete curiose di sapere se City riuscirà a sistemare tutto e farà capitolare la bella Sunshine (sì, lui l’ha soprannominata così)?

Allora dovete leggere questo romanzo, anche perché questo è l’inizio di una bellissima serie con protagonisti tutti i fratelli – e una sorella – Gallo e, anche se li ho letti tutti, City è rimasto il mio personaggio preferito, alpha, sexy, ma con un cuore d’oro. Vi piacerà anche Suzy, anche se sembra un po’ rigida all’inizio; aveva solo bisogno dell’uomo giusto che la svegliasse.

È stata una lettura molto piacevole, divertente, sexy, toccante in alcuni punti, anche se appena finito ho pensato che avesse del potenziale che l’autrice avrebbe dovuto approfondire di più, perché alcune cose sembrano proprio lasciate a metà, con domande che non hanno avuto risposta. Anche i caratteri dei personaggi mancano un po’ di introspezione o approfondimento, quasi avesse puntato, forse un po’ troppo, sui desideri sessuali e il sesso. Diciamo che con i primi libri di una serie sembra spesso che manchi qualcosa, o almeno questa è sempre la mia impressione. Però, non c’è da preoccuparsi, perché City e Suzy hanno anche un’altra novella tutta per loro, “Throttled”, e un altro libro, “Honor Me”, quindi cosa vogliamo di più?

Il libro è raccontato dal punto di vista di entrambi, che è una cosa che mi piace molto. C’è una profusione di “fuck/fucking” e altre parolacce, ma d’altronde, tra fratelli e amici è un po’ così che si parla, no? Non fatevi ingannare dalla cover e dal fatto che City sia un motociclista, questo libro non è un MC.

Anche i personaggi di contorno sono molto interessanti, i migliori amici di lei Sophia e Kayden, e la famiglia di lui, italiana. Nei libri di Chelle ci sono sempre degli italiani.

Il secondo libro, dopo la novella, ci racconterà di Michael.

“A volte la vita non ci da quello che cerchiamo, ma ci da quello che è destino che sia. Dobbiamo solo essere disposti a buttarsi. Vivere un po’. Rischiare, per una volta.”

“Izzy, please. Be reasonable.”

I loved when James begged. “Say it again,” I taunted him.

What the fuck with the be reasonable comment? I’m always reasonable. Okay, maybe that isn’t entirely true. I usually shoot from the hip and save the apologies for later. My big mouth has gotten me into more trouble over the years, and much of it I try to forget, especially when it comes to James.

He arched an eyebrow, and the same shitty smirk that I’d grown accustomed to flashed across his lips. “I could make you say yes.”

“Doubtful.” I glared at him, feeling supercocky even though I was in no position to be.

James, my loving husband of over ten years, decided that tonight was a good time to tie me to the bed. I should’ve known he was up to no good because it’d been more than a little bit since he’d used restraints during sex. I figured we were just getting our kink on and that he wanted to try something new, but nope, the bastard knew I wouldn’t like what he was asking and made sure I didn’t have an out.

“Baby,” he whispered, running his thumbs across my bottom lip and trying to seduce me. “You know you can’t say no to me. Never have and never will.”

There were very few people in this world that could make me do anything, but James had a power over me since the first night I met him. Saying no to him had always been damn near impossible, and I almost hated myself because of it.

I never wanted to be that girl—the one who caved to anything her husband asked. Never in my life had I wanted to be her, an easy mark and a carpet for her husband to walk all over, but things don’t always turn out the way we plan. I learned that the hard way.

James wasn’t even on my radar until the night of Joe and Suzy’s wedding when he sauntered in with his good looks and charm. The arrogant bastard seemed to work me like he’d known me my entire life, and I fell for it.

I pulled at the restraints and tried to break free, but it was useless. The man could tie the most wicked knots, and it had been years since I’d been able to wiggle out of them. Every time I escaped, he’d learn a new technique until he found just the right one to render me helpless.

His lips scorched a path down my neck, and my back arched as if begging for his touch. “Say yes, Izzy.”

I stifled the moan that formed low in my throat, but I squeaked instead when he sucked my nipple into his mouth. My body rocked on its own, moving toward him instinctively, wanting the bite of his teeth. His hand slid down my front, cupping my pussy, not hard enough to give me pleasure, only the sweet torment that he reveled in.
