After reading “Untangle Me” it was inevitable for me to read the book dedicated to Kayden’s past. A past that has so negatively affected his life, making him fear of losing the woman who has become the most precious thong in the world for him.

“Kayden the Past” is different from any book I previously read by this author.

It’s a real personal diary written through his point of view, with all the stories Kayden lived before meeting Sophia. Memories told without filters, without searching easy justifications for his mistakes or weaknesses, and through which you can better understand all of his fears that had surfaced in the previous book. Fears that lead him to fall into a vicious circle, too, when he realizes how important Sophia is for him. Alcohol is his way of escape, an oasis where try to silence his inner demons.

With Sophia, his temptation is just alcohol, but in the past the mix of sex, drugs and alcohol had been even more deadly.

Kayden has really done and tried everything, but he is also a man who shows to people two faces, so different from one another.

It was strange to see him in certain moments so sure of himself, his charm, his hotness, of his skills as a lover, always getting what he wanted, with any woman. And then find yourself in front of a totally different person, so fragile and insecure when it comes to a relationship in which feelings come into play.

One could think he could be an insensitive and ruthless man, seeing his endless series of flings, but in his case is exactly the opposite. When he searched for something more in a relationship, he always slammed into a wall, collecting a defeat after another, and loosing trust in himself and in his value as a man.

Kayden is not the perfect mate that everyone dreams of having at their side, or one of those characters who always does the right thing at the right time. He has a lot of issues, he hides behind his facade as sex bomb. When he meets Sophia, all these issues don’t magically disappear , but make his insecurities come back. And that’s exactly what makes him so real as a person and why I loved him much.

After reading all his diary, I’m even more fond of Sophia, for her strength and determination to fight for Kayden, accepting his light during his journey, giving him the security he needs.

Dopo aver letto “Untangle Me” era inevitabile per me voler leggere il libro dedicato al passato di Kayden. Un passato che ha influito negativamente così tanto nella sua vita, da fargli temere di poter perdere la persona diventata per lui la più preziosa al mondo.

“Kayden the Past” è diverso da qualsiasi libro letto da me in precedenza di questa autrice.

È un vero e proprio diario personale, in cui vengono raccontate in prima persona tutte le storie vissute da Kayden prima di incontrare Sophia. Ricordi raccontati senza filtri, senza la ricerca di facili giustificazioni per i suoi errori o per le sue debolezze, e grazie ai quali si possono comprendere meglio tutte le sue paure che erano affiorate nel libro precedente. Paure che lo portano a cadere in un circolo vizioso, anche, nel momento in cui si accorge di quanto sia importante per lui Sophia. L’alcol visto come via di fuga, un’oasi in cui cercare di mettere a tacere i propri demoni interiori.

Mentre è insieme a Sophia la tentazione è solo l’alcol, ma in passato il mix sesso, droghe e alcol era stato ancora più letale.

Kayden ha veramente fatto e provato di tutto, ma è anche un uomo che mostra alle persone due facce profondamente diverse l’una dall’altra.

È stato strano vederlo in certi momenti così sicuro di se stesso, del suo fascino, della sua sensualità, delle sue capacità come amante, riuscendo a ottenere sempre quello che voleva, con qualsiasi donna. E poi ritrovarsi di fronte a una persona totalmente diversa, così fragile e insicura quando si tratta di un rapporto in cui entrano in gioco i sentimenti.

Si poteva pensare di trovarsi di fronte a un uomo insensibile e senza scrupoli, visto la sua serie infinita di avventure, ma nel suo caso è esattamente l’opposto. Nel momento in cui ha cercato qualcosa di più in una relazione è andato sempre a sbattere contro un muro, collezionando una delusione dopo l’altra, cominciando con l’andare del tempo a non credere più in se stesso e nel suo valore come uomo.

Kayden non è il compagno perfetto che tutti sognano di avere al proprio fianco, o uno di quei personaggi che fa sempre la cosa giusta al momento giusto. Ha un sacco di problemi che si nascondono dietro la sua facciata da bomba sexy. Quando incontra Sophia tutti questi problemi non spariscono d’incanto, ma fanno tornare alla luce le sue insicurezze. Ed è proprio questo a renderlo così vero come persona e che mi è piaciuto così tanto in lui.

Dopo aver letto tutto questo suo diario ho apprezzato ancora di più Sophia, per la sua forza e la sua determinazione nel lottare per Kayden, accettando di essere il suo punto fermo, durante questa sua ricerca, dandogli la sicurezza di cui ha bisogno.

 Se vi era piaciuto “Untangle Me”, la storia di Kayden e Sophia, questa storia è assolutamente da leggere.

Everything changes when their lives become intertwined through a chance encounter online. Hundreds of miles separate them, but the connection that draws them together is too much to be denied. As the layers of their lives peel back, Kayden keeps the dangerous parts of his past hidden to protect the woman who is becoming more important to him than he should allow. What starts as a pursuit of carnal pleasure turns into a complicated love story. His past is a tangled web filled with addiction, an obsessed ex-girlfriend, and problems with the law. One mistake he thought he had left behind may end up ruining it all.

“Untangle Me” is the first book in the series “Love at Last”. It isn’t a new book release by Chelle Bliss, but the re-release of this series after  making some changes. I didn’t read it before, I met this author through her series “Men of Inked”, which I love, and now I am filling the gaps while reading her other books. A small connection with her best known series is actually there, since in “Untangle Me” for the first time makes her appearance Suzy, who will become one of the protagonists with City in the series “Men of inked”, but everything stops precisely there with a small role for Suzy as Sophia’s best friend, protagonist with Kayden of this story. This book brought me back in time, resurfacing memories and emotions that I can now remember with a smile on my lips, thinking about how crazy I was. That said, I can only  think that the beauty of this story is precisely in the way it manages to show all the merits and defects of the loves that are born suddenly, between two people who know very little about each other, but who decide to follow their instinct, and then let themselves be carried away by the emotions they feel. Kayden and Sophia meet by chance, through the socials. Immediately between them there is a spark, a connection and an understanding that makes them want to know the person on the other side of the screen. Their meeting strengthens their bond, instead of diminishing the interest and the attraction they feel for each other, but in the long run, some of the problems that can be encountered experiencing a relationship from afar are emerging, with a person who has a mysterious past behind it. Many moments lived by Kayden and Sophia in my eyes are very real: loneliness in facing the ups and downs of everyday life alone, the frustration you feel without having beside at certain times the person you love, the lack of simple physical contact, the creeping doubts in your mind  and the paranoia in which you can fall in front of the phone that remains dumb and is your only Contact, but also the immense joy and the inability to keep the passion in check when you meet and you no longer care about “where you are”, “what You Do” and “how long it will last”. Between Kayden and Sophia everything happens very quickly, at the beginning a little too perfect, but then many things change. Once again the past and the real life of everyday make their feel their weight, putting at risk their still so fragile love. I loved Kayden  because he isn’t the perfect man, the dream-man, I have always found in Chelle Bliss’ books. He is a man who faced and has not yet solved several problems in his life, he has his weaknesses that risk to crush him, letting him lose the vision of what is important in his life. In this moment of failure, Sophia set aside all her uncertainties and take a step forward, fighting for Kayden, for the man who started to fall in love, without letting herself be intimidated by anything and nobody. It’s a story that has a lot to say, with two people who really love each other, make mistakes, but they also know how to step back, forgive and above all not surrender in the face of difficulties.

“Untangle Me” è il primo libro della serie “Love at Last”. Non è un nuovo libro scritto da Chelle Bliss, ma la ripubblicazione di uno vecchio dopo aver revisionato la serie, apportando alcuni cambiamenti. Non lo avevo letto in precedenza, ho conosciuto questa autrice attraverso la serie “Men of Inked” – che adoro – e adesso, man mano, sto riempiendo i vuoti che mi rimangono nella lettura dei suoi libri. Una piccola connessione con la sua serie più conosciuta in realtà c’è, visto che in “Untangle Me”, per la prima volta, fa la sua apparizione Suzy, che diventerà poi una delle protagoniste, con City, della serie “Men of Inked”; tutto si ferma però con un piccolo ruolo per Suzy, come migliore amica di Sophia, protagonista di questa storia insieme a Kayden. Questo libro mi ha riportato indietro nel tempo, facendo riaffiorare ricordi ed emozioni che mi hanno lasciato il sorriso sulle labbra, ripensando a quanto fossi matta. Detto questo, posso solo dire che credo che la bellezza di questa storia stia proprio nel modo in cui riesce a mostrare tutti i pregi e i difetti degli amori che nascono all’improvviso, tra due persone che conoscono ben poco l’uno dell’altra, ma che decidono di seguire l’istinto, per poi lasciarsi trasportare dalle emozioni che provano. Kayden e Sophia si conoscono per caso, attraverso i social. Da subito tra loro scatta una scintilla, una connessione e un’intesa che fa desiderare a entrambi di poter conoscere la persona dall’altra parte dello schermo. Invece che far diminuire l’interesse, il loro primo incontro rafforza il legame che li unisce e l’attrazione che provano l’uno per l’altra; comunque, a lungo andare, emergono alcuni dei problemi che si possono incontrare vivendo un rapporto a distanza, con una persona che ha un misterioso passato alle spalle. Tanti sono i momenti vissuti da Kayden e Sophia che, ai miei occhi, hanno reso il tutto molto realistico: la solitudine nell’affrontare gli alti e bassi della vita di tutti i giorni da soli; la frustrazione che, in certi momenti, si sente nel non avere accanto la persona che si ama; la mancanza del semplice contatto fisico; i dubbi che si insinuano nella testa e la paranoia in cui si può cadere davanti a un cellulare che rimane muto ed è l’unico contatto; ma anche la gioia immensa e l’incapacità di tenere a freno la passione nel momento in cui ci si rivede e non importa più nulla di “dove si è”, “cosa si fa” e per “quanto durerà”. Tra Kayden e Sophia tutto avviene molto in fretta, all’inizio in modo fin troppo perfetto, ma poi molte cose cambiano. Ancora una volta il passato e la vita reale di tutti i giorni fanno sentire il loro peso, mettendo a rischio il loro amore, ancora così fragile. Kayden mi è piaciuto molto perché è ben lontano dagli uomini perfetti, da sogno, che ho sempre trovato nei libri di Chelle Bliss. È un uomo che ha affrontato, e non ha ancora risolto, diversi problemi nella sua vita: ha le sue debolezze che rischiano di schiacciarlo, di fargli perdere la visione di ciò che è importante. Proprio in questo suo momento di cedimento è stata Sophia a mettere da parte tutte le sue incertezze e a fare un passo avanti, lottando per Kayden, per l’uomo che ha imparato ad amare, senza lasciarsi intimidire da niente e nessuno. È una storia che ha molto da dire, con due persone che si amano veramente, commettono degli errori, ma sanno anche fare un passo indietro, perdonare o farsi perdonare e, soprattutto, non arrendersi di fronte alle difficoltà.
