After reading “Sexy Motherpucker” blurb I couldn’t resist the impulse of reading the story. Maybe I was expecting to be in front of the usual sexy alpha man, but Brendan is definitely a man who goes beyond these stereotyped characters you find in romantic novels. He’s a Man with the capitol M who embody the dreams of any woman. In this novel the real protagonists are feelings, love in its various forms: Brendan’s unconditional and absolute love towards his daughter, Brendan’s lost love and his devotion for hiw wife, the precious friendship with Laura and the new bond that begins to blossom between them and the love of his family and people who are close to Brendan. “Love is in the air,” but he’s probably a man who knows how to give so much the to people around him winning their love. It’s also a story so easy and fun to read, thanks to the friendship that links Brendan to Laura. Instead at work, between them, is a bit of love and hate, there are small clashes that arise because of Brendan’s reluctance to give his time, to meet with fans and sponsors, in favor of his hockey team. It’s a real thorn in Laura’s side, but their back and forth are always brilliant and fun. But you can’t help to agree with Brendan … is an incredible man who, after the death of his wife, decided to put the daughter and her needs in the center of her life, without giving in to the temptation of easy adventures with other women.

Brendan is still very close to his wife’s memory, he isn’t ready to start over, and despite feeling a strong attraction for Laura, at first he tries to keep her away, risking of ruining their friendship.

To tell the truth they are both a bit dull and they don’t seem to understand the importance of what is happening to each other, but fortunately Brendan has a lot of people around him who really love him, they know how to “read” and see the signs of what is happening and give a push to both of them in the right direction.

I loved so much Brendan is amazing, a real man, who rarely opens up, but when he cares he gives all his heart and it doesn’t hurt he is also very very hot.

As his sister says, he is like a unicorn who has lost his magic, he is broken and hurt, but his ability to be special wasn’t erased, he only needs to come back from the dark.

However the thing that surprised me the most was that for once, through Brendan’s eyes, I was able to see how amazing is Laura, everything he finds so wonderful in her, and I loved it a lot. She’s fun, smart, but above all she has a big heart and really cares for Brendan’s daughter.

I will never forget the dog scene at Brendon’s former in-law’s house, one of the funniest and most embarrassing moment I have ever read, but I won’t forget other moments of this story absolutely full of romance, so beautiful and touching.

“Sexy Motherpucker” is definitely a book to read 🙂

Torniamo indietro un attimo…

Brendan Daniels è l’uomo più sexy che possa esistere. È il capitano della squadra NHL dei Badger, ma è anche sveglio, gentile, divertente ed era un mio buon amico… fino a quando un weekend ci siamo lasciati dirottare fuori dalla sfera-amicizia a causa di un’avventura molto eccitante. Arrivato il lunedì mattina, volevo continuare a rimanere sul treno degli orgasmi che porta verso la felicità, ma Brendan voleva qualcuna che fosse materiale da “mamma-adottiva”

Quindi, non io, apparentemente.

Il problema? Sono pazzamente innamorata di lui e di sua figlia. Così quando mi ha chiesto di fingere di essere la sua fidanzata durante un lungo weekend con gli ex suoceri, ho detto sì. Siamo ancora amici, dopo tutto, e gli amici non lasciano i loro amici a fingere da soli.

Laura Collins è l’ultima donna che dovrei pensare di portare sul sedile posteriore della mia auto, tra gli alberi dietro la casa dei miei suoceri, o nella stanza di un albergo dove dividiamo un letto molto piccolo e molto cigolante.

Ho bisogno di una figura sicura e stabile per mia figlia, non di un’avventura con questa rossa troppo selvaggia, troppo giovane e troppo impulsiva. Così cosa accadrebbe se lei fosse bellissima, intensa e appassionata e con il cuore più grande che io abbia mai conosciuto?

Non voglio innamorarmi. Davvero non lo voglio. L’intera faccenda “finta fidanzata” doveva risolvere i miei problemi, farmi guadagnare un po’ di tempo.

Ma quando si tratta di Laura?

Dannazione, forse non sono tagliato per fingere.

Dopo aver letto la trama di “Sexy Motherpucker” non ho saputo resistere all’impulso di voler leggere questa storia. Forse aspettavo di trovarmi di fronte al solito uomo alfa sexy, ma Brendan va ben oltre a questi personaggi stereotipati che si trovano in molti romance. È l’Uomo con la U maiuscola che potrebbe incarnare i sogni di qualsiasi donna. È una storia in cui i veri protagonisti sono i sentimenti, l’amore nelle sue diverse forme: l’amore incondizionato e assoluto di Brendan verso la figlia, l’amore perduto e la devozione verso il ricordo della compagna che ha perso, l’amicizia preziosa con Laura e il nuovo legame che comincia a sbocciare tra di loro e l’amore dei familiari e delle persone che sono vicine a Brendan. “Love is in the air”, ma probabilmente è lui che sa dare così tanto che le persone che gli stanno intorno non possono fare a meno di ricambiare il suo affetto. È una storia raccontata anche in modo leggero e divertente, grazie al rapporto di amicizia che lega Brendan a Laura. Invece sul lavoro, tra loro, è un po’ amore e odio, ci sono piccoli scontri, che nascono a causa della ritrosia di Brendan a concedere il suo tempo, per incontri con fan e sponsor, a favore della sua squadra di hockey. È una vera e propria spina nel fianco per Laura, ma i loro botta e risposta sono sempre divertenti e brillanti. Ma come dare torto a Brendan… è un uomo incredibile, che dopo la scomparsa della moglie ha deciso di mettere al centro della sua vita la figlia e le sue esigenze, senza cedere alla tentazione di facili avventure con altre donne. Brendan è ancora molto legato al ricordo della moglie, non si sente pronto a ricominciare e pur provando una forte attrazione per Laura, in un primo momento, prova a tenerla a distanza rischiando di rovinare il loro rapporto. A dire la verità sono entrambi un po’ ottusi e non sembrano capire l’importanza di quello che sta accadendo tra di loro, ma per fortuna Brendan ha intorno a sé un sacco di persone che gli vogliono veramente bene, lo sanno “leggere” e cogliere i segni di quello che sta accadendo, dando una spintarella a entrambi nella giusta direzione. Ho amato tantissimo Brendan è un uomo meraviglioso, maturo, che si apre raramente, ma quando lo fa concede tutto il suo cuore e non guasta che sia anche molto molto sexy. Come dice la sorella, è come un unicorno che ha perso la sua magia, è danneggiato, ferito, ma la sua capacità di essere speciale non è stata cancellata, deve solo tornare alla luce. La cosa che mi ha sorpreso di più, invece, è stata che per una volta, attraverso gli occhi di Brendan, sono riuscita a vedere anch’io la  vera bellezza di Laura, tutto quello che trova in lei di così meraviglioso, e mi è piaciuta tantissimo. È divertente, sveglia ma soprattutto ha un cuore d’oro e tiene veramente alla figlia di Brendan. Non dimenticherò mai la scena del cane a casa dei suoceri di Brendan, uno dei momenti più divertenti e imbarazzanti che abbia mai letto, ma, non dimenticherò anche altri momenti di questa storia assolutamente pieni di romanticismo, molto belli e toccanti. “Sexy Motherpucker” è un libro sicuramente da leggere 🙂
